Homecare Business Strategy Part 4: What Kind of Business Do You Want to Be?

After you’ve evaluated your homecare agency’s reputation and taken steps to positively impact your perception among clients, it’s time to think about the type of business that you want to be and how exploring the care software market can help you achieve your goals.

Here are 4 Questions to Ask Yourself:

1. What are your business priorities?

Do you want to win more clients? Improve the quality of your services? Streamline administrative processes? Think about what is most important to your business development over the next few months. For example, you may implement a new caregiver training program or begin using care software technology, like
ClearCare, to reduce administrative burdens.

2. What do you want your agency to be known for?

When clients and your referral network talk about your business do you want them to first think of your agency’s level of transparency? The reliability of your caregivers? Showcase your agency’s strenghts, such as the use of home care software solutions that offer real-time transparency for family caregivers. Then, focus on further developing priorities on the list.

3. How is your agency involved in the community?

Consider how your agency is involved within your local senior community. Do you support senior causes, participate in local aging commission meetings, or attend events hosted by the local Alzheimer’s Association, or Multiple Sclerosis Society chapters? Make your agency’s name well-known in the local senior scene by becoming more involved in the elder community!

4. What is unique about your caregiver’s skill sets?

Even providing non-skilled care requires a set of unique skills including stellar communication, safe lifting and disease control practices and knowledge of senior conditions such as Alzheimer’s and arthritis. Evaluate what is unique, and outstanding, about your caregiver skill sets to help set your agency apart. You can also track caregiver certifications and training completion via homecare software to ensure that credentials and training certifications current and accurate.

After you have examined what your most important business values are, there are many tools to help you mold your home care agency. Take advantage of the power of a robust homecare system, such as ClearCare, and network with local senior organizations. Focus on hiring and training caregivers with similar care values.
